Maarten grew up in Timaru, attending Marchwiel School and Timaru Boys’ High School. After graduating from Canterbury University with a First Class honours degree in law in 2000, Maarten spent time living and working in Europe before he returned to Timaru in 2004 and joined Timpany Walton. He became a Partner in 2010 and is currently the firm’s Managing Partner.
Maarten has had involvement in a number of Community organisations and sports clubs, including serving as a Trustee of the Community Trust of Mid and South Canterbury and the Timaru Mental Health Support Trust and he is currently on the Timaru Area Committee for Hato Hone St John.
Outside of work Maarten enjoys spending time with his wife Fiona and their three young children, playing football, spending time in the outdoors and exercising his dog.
